11. President's Concluding Remarks:
In his concluding remarks, the President offered valuable suggestions to the members, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the association's high standing and ensuring continued harmony among members for successful four terms. He highlighted:
"Two senior citizen associations recently visited our office, drawn by information about our programs available on our website. They were genuinely impressed by our building and the organization of our programs, expressing their intent to seek our advice for their future endeavours. This stands as a testament to our positive reputation externally.
It is widely acknowledged that senior citizens hold a respected position in the eyes of politicians and the community. Let us diligently uphold this respect without any compromise. As human beings, differences of opinion and occasional rivalries are natural. However, at this stage in our lives, around 70 years of age, let us endeavour to transcend these. Let us set aside past differences and extend forgiveness for any unintended words spoken. Forgiveness is not a sign of weakness; rather, it reflects our inherent strength and magnanimity. Let us not succumb to 'egos'. Taking a step back does not signify defeat; instead, it paves the way for mutual understanding and respect for differing viewpoints.
Just as the anonymous wisdom of the Vedas, thousands of years old, continues to offer guidance and insight in complex situations, the origin of this building's construction is less significant than its purpose. It has become a platform for countless individuals, providing shelter and facilitating numerous beneficial programs. Let us collectively strive to work together as members of one family, without any disturbances, disputes, or accusations, and with a broad perspective, respecting each other's contributions."
12. Clarification Regarding "Jolly Friends" Group:
The President addressed concerns raised by some members regarding a group named "Jolly Friends" being perceived as an internal part of the Senior Citizens Association. He clarified that the "Jolly Friends" group is entirely separate from the Senior Citizens Association. He explained that while all members of the Senior Citizens Association are above 60 years of age by definition, "Jolly Friends" has no age restrictions and is open to individuals in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, formed solely for recreational purposes with only a few members participating. To resolve any potential confusion, he suggested instead adding a "Jolly Friends" tag, it is better to replace it as “Senior Citizens” to relevant photos. He also advised members to carefully consider the utility of any message before posting it in the group and to disregard any mistakenly posted messages.
13. Vote of Thanks:
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sri K. Pandu Rangaiah Garu.
